5 Social Trends That Will Change Your Job in 2022
Experts have indicated the following, according to polls of over 18K marketers, and these shifts in the marketplace are going to impact the way eCom brands and services alike show up digitally in 2022.
1. TikTok will become the most important social network for marketing
Instagram has fallen to the wayside. Data concludes that search demand for TikTok grew 173% while search demand for Instagram Reels grew 22%.
2. Brands will spend large ad budgets on smaller networks
ROAS has diminished YoY on Facebook Ads and people are ready to put their dollars elsewhere. Pinterest, TikTok, and Snapchat are going to consume more of our client’s budget allocation in 2022, sorry Meta!
3. Customers will buy your products directly on social media
That’s right, with the budget you do allocate to Facebook Ads, your customers will expect to purchase directly on the platform, not your eCom site. So expect a lot less traffic to your website from the platform…and make sure to survey your customers, especially those returning goods to you, around how they learned about your brand and how they purchased. I’m curious to know if return rates will be better or worse for those customers buying via social commerce.
4. Long-form video is a bust
6-12 second lo-fi vertical videos will continue to be all the rage. The exception will be on YouTube where you can still get away with really healthy VCR and CPVV for videos are long as 60 seconds.
5. You need to show up as a media company
This means you’ll start entrusting your best influences and creators to carry out more frequent content as well as brand engagement tactics on your behalf. If you haven’t started working with influencers yet, you need to! As of 2021, 50 million people consider themselves to be creators on social networks. And businesses are set to spend $15 billion on influencer marketing by 2022. (For good reason! Creators are better at social media than most brands are.)
